Power door lock issues

Asked by chefski Nov 20, 2011 at 03:43 PM about the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin 4WD Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My driver side power door lock is malfunctioning.  It works when I press the unlock side, but not when I press lock.  Do i need to replace the actuator or is it less complicated than that?

Will the door lock with your key fob, or with the switch on the passenger side? If so, it's your switch. Switch is going to be the most common failure here.

I replaced the the switch and the problem still happens (I can only unlock). I can lock and unlock with the passenger side button, just not with the fob or the driver side switch

I have the same problem on my 2003 Explorer Sport. I can't unlock the doors from the drivers side, but can lock them; and and lock and unlock from passenger side. I replaced the switch and that wasn't the problem.
