(Please Help) High RPM when accelerating ...

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When i exit off the freeway and i stop at light the
motor still is tunning at high rpm and.when i sit
with the car on (Parked) the rpm is high but after 3
mins or so it runs normal , When I start it again to
go somewhere after i go 35 mph the rpm is high
again... Does any one know whats going on?

So it could be the IAC valve, possibly dirty and is sticky, cleaning some times helps but if it has never been replaced it you might just replace it and make sure the passages are clean befor you put on the new unit. Other things could be the TPS, ACT and the ECT. If any of those is sending an incorrect signal it can cause the ECM to make incorrect adjustments to idle, air fuel mixtures timing etc.

And or vacuum leaks, listen for hissing.
