Trouble Re-installing rotors after bearing replacement
Just replaced the inner and outer races and bearings on front rotor hub. When I go to slide on axle it does not go all way home, about 1-1.5" short of being fully on the axle.
Races are Bottomed out against stops in Hub/rotor assembly.
Wondering if the old inner Bearing sleeve is still on the axle?
Yes the sleve is still there,
Will it come off? Some people suggest heat others grinder?
I have removed them by cutting with chisel,die grinder,but you might try heat,but the issue with this is you heat the bearing and it will go bad from already burnt grease in the future.
Thanks, not sure I understand warning about heat on the bearing. The bearing is gone already, just a piece of it remains. I wouldn't re-use a bearing even if I could remove it whole.
Hello, back again, I purchased a Ford OEM spindle complete with ball joints. Of course, the Ball Joints do not have grease fittings. I can only hope truck would last that long anyway. New Issue: The upper Ball Joint Keeper(?) does not sit Flat on the mounting arm. Just does not look right to me. The New upper Ball Joint has a rise along the seal that prevents the "Keeper" from moving down in place. See Photo, Is this alright? What is official name of that part? Assume I need to go to dealer? Thanks again
This is normal for the aftermarket part,it is installed correctly.
Strange as it is FORD OEM Original part. What do you call the Part up top that I called a keeper? Thanks, Bob
