How to get my fuel pump working?

Asked by Mar 09, 2015 at 11:04 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban LT 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 suburban 1500 flex fuel system,
180000 miles. Car wouldn't start so I
checked for spark and sure enough I had
spark. I checked to see if it had fuel to the
engine, no go. So I replaced the fuel filter
abd still no start. Put in a new fuel filter and
I can't tell if it is working. The car still won't
start. Where else might I have a problem?
Would I need to spray starter fluid to get it
started the first time? Please help! I have 4
days to fix it before school starts again and
I am swamped. Thanks in advance.

If at 180000 and you haven't replaced the fuel pump chances are very high that the fuel pump has failed, you should also replace the fuel pump relay at the same time and check the electrical plug on the fuel sender assembly, if it shows any discoloration or burn marks replace it also.
