The data plate build date? / plate is missing

Asked by Oct 27, 2014 at 01:01 AM about the 1964 Ford Mustang Standard Convertible

Question type: General

How can I determine when the my unit was built
The build serial number is 162100 .
Would it be 64.5 or 65?

1 Answer

72,425

I'd suggest contacting Ford's Customer Service department with your complete vehicle identification number. They may be able to help. The '64.5 Mustangs were titled as 1965 models. These cars have always had a large following so the information is out there, I'm sure. Given your car's low unit number it is possible that it's a '64.5. Check under the back seat. Sometimes a build sheet was tucked in between the seat springs and the cushion material, for future reference. HTH. -Jim
