2003 slk320 ignition switch key core...switch becoming difficult to operate

Asked by Jul 31, 2013 at 04:16 PM about the 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class SLK320

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

The ignition when I insert the key it has become very difficult to get it to turn to crank ... takes multiple tries at turning it and having to wiggle it to get it to allow the engine to be cranked.

Due to the elaborate and expensive design of Mercedes Benz, I would suggest you call a dealer and have them replace the key switch in order to save yourself a lot of hard ache and money later on. Remember also that a new switch might mean reprogramming the keys you are ready have as well as any security systems.

In order to replace the key switch, the steering column "covers" need to be removed and re-installed without damage also.

take it back...sit on someone's desk until they deal with their ineptitude~...be packin' all your documentation~
