High oil pressure
Just changed the oil and filter on my 2003 Chevy
Avalanche now the oil pressure is high 80 what
could be the problem should I change the oil filter
I can remember when I put a high-volume oil pump into my Impala 400 motor, started blowin' the gaskets...turns out there is a spring that you change out to affect reduced pressure...not that someone changed it out in the middle of the night, but that little guy has a spring to limit the pressure....clearly this spring has stopped doing it's job~
Sounds more like your oil pumps pressure bypass valve has stuck closed or your gauge is messed up, just turn the key on and see if the oil pressure gauge reads 80 with just the key on and the engine not running, if it reads 0 then you may want to add in a manual oil pressure gauge just to verify you actually have that much oil pressure. Note oil filters will not stand that kind of pressure for long before splitting wide open and dumping your oil and ruining your engine so be careful until you have done the verification.
