Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to identify component under the hood on the passenger side that is a black plastic box type thing. It is brittle and pieces break off easily if touched other than very lightly. (see pistures). What does it do also?

Isn't the heater core above the passengers feet inside the cab? This item is on the left side of the engine looking in from the front bumper.

Found it. It is the evaporator housing, but haven't been able to locate a replacement housing.
