Chevy venture 2004

chevy venture wont start, makes clicking noises, it starts when jumped but dies
once the cable is disconnected. what can i do to fix the problem, is it the
alternator?

It could be the alternator but you need to get it running first. Have battery charged or install new battery then have charging system checked when running alternator should be charging at 14 volts.
