WHAT IS CORRECT VOLTAGE

1 Answer

100,255

Running 13.8 to 14.2, battery condition can make this fall or rise slightly. Cold battery voltage, engine off, should hover around 12.5 to 12.8 volts but the amps is the real determining factor in how good a battery is, when checking a battery the abality of it carry the specified load is critical. And never remove a battery cable with the engine running, you can cause a voltage surge that can wipe out every piece of electronics in the vehicle.
