Just purchase 04 Trailblazer with 38000 miles- sometimes when coasting at a low speed the transmission kicks in with a thump when I accelerate. Is this typical for this vehicle. Has 4X4 4.2 liter

No, no that's not typical. Might be a bad/loose motor/ transmission mount? Loose U-joint(s)? loose torque converter?
