Have a 1992 190e 2.3, two bens dealers can't get it to start! New fuel distributor put in ,still won't start!!! Please help

1992 ,190 E 2.3 engine...won't start. Mercedes Chicago put in new fuel distributor
ordered from Benz in Germany , no luck in starting ,sent to syracuse Benz,they did all
kinds of research...still not starting!! Any suggestion would be helpful...thanks....

It's one or more of the relays. It's possibly the overload relay--the one with the red top and fuse in it. Check the fuse. It could also be the fuel pump relay. Those would be my first guesses. I have owned the 2.6 model for many years, and it's almost always a relay.

I had to replace the fuel pump and filter in mine, but now it won't idle so that's as much as I know.


Basics. Is there spark? Is there fuel? Are the plugs wet ? is the cap and rotor both new bosch parts? Is there compression? how many miles on the timing chain? Does the cold start valve pass its tests ? Is there a vacuum leak? Can you hear the pump run? sorry, just trying to get all the stuff thought about. Tell us please, the results of the tests run so far. what kind of plugs are in it ? When did it last start ? what tests did it pass or fail to lead them to a new fuel distrib? You may know already, but there are factory bulletins about unnecessary replacement of fuel distributors. how does that data compare to your engine and year ? There are relays and switches and sensors as well as hoses and tubes in place, a airflow housing soft part that cracks, but most commom is distributor cap and rotor resistance or "burn thru" The car has a crank sensor. so, basics please. spark, fuel, compression, timing. must verify all 4

Oh, can you put the injectors in a row of jars hooked up, turn the key to run, lift the vane airflow meter flap,(or push it down) and fill the jars equally ?
