The SRS light is controlled by a ring of contact sensors on the column behind the steering wheel. Your mechanic will remove the airbag and check to see if duct and debris is causing the issue. Usually they replace the ring. Sometimes you can fix the issue by spraying with compressed air between the wheel and the column; since your car is 25 years old, this may not work.
