Hey Thanks. Do you 200k is high number for honda Accord mostly driven in city. I have a doubt on filter as the workshop had free filter offer and i m guessing either they put some low standard filter or didnot replace at all. My bad I didnot verify that part. Is there any relation with gear oil. The mechanic told me to replace gear oil as he found burning smell for that oil. I didnot replaced that yet , How often we should change gear oil and whats the criteria to be sure that gear oil needs a replace

Is it a manual or automatic tranny ? , I think you should find another shop

if it's an automatic then I don't know what gear oil they're talking about , they offered a free oil filter or tranny filter ? I only let people work on my vehicles if I trust them so I wouldn't trust who ever did the oil change

Use full synthetic 5w20 for your engine. If you use thicker oil, your oil pump will pump slower and that will cause your i-vtec does not have enough oil to get into it. Thicker oil also makes your i4 run slower on the acceleration. I would not recommend thicker oil to any Honda drivers at all.

Why don't you just replace oil every five thousands miles instead. Add Lucas stabilizer and leave the oil in there too long will not give you a healthy engine.

The knocking of your engine due to wear and tear or it could be anything may go wrong with it. It could be the valves need to be adjusted, spark plugs are too old or they are not the correct type. Or the type of fuel you put in your engine. Or the knock sensor of your old car fail too. Check your spark plug first because this is the easiest part of the vehicle you can do at first.
