I have a 04 chevy malibu and it blows white smoke when i release the gas pedal while driving...it also cuts off. What could be the problem?
I just recently had my timing chain, tensioner, and camshaft replaced. Now my car is
smoking white smoke when i release the gas. It also dies off but cranks back up.my car is
a 04 chevy Malibu.
They may have not installed the intake gasket correctly. If they pulled the heads off they could have damaged the head gasket. Is it low on antifreeze?
Yah. Hope the shop stands by there work.
White smoke is radiator fluid. Head gaskets are leaking. A compression check will tell which bank is the bad one. I hope they used new gaskets when putting the heads back on, and cleaned the engine block when they removed the old heads. Any remnants of the old head gasket left on the motor or head will create a space for leaks to happen. Why did you replace the cam? Did you upgrade or sold a bill of goods when the timing chain was replaced?
