2004 cavalier wont start.

Shifter wont lock in gear and not
starting because of this problem
how do i fix this little goodie ?

inspect the shifter cable.. they can detach from the link in time on the driver's side of the engine.

It's probably the linkage for shifter, I had same problem and it was the linkage needed adjusted

You can start ot on natural or push shifter all the way up on park

i should say it is the age that cracks the plastic shift cable on the driver's side of the engine.. might be slightly off.
