4 wheel drive stopped working while using it

I had recently gotten stuck while my 4 wheel drive
was already engaged and while trying to get it
unstuck I heard a click noise in the front right
wheel and the 4 stopped working there is this bar
with the cushion spring looking stuff going from
I'm guessing the 4 wheel box to the front right tire
but that is loose and rattles around while driving

I forgot to add it is a 6 cylinder 5 speed and the the 4 wheel engage thing is on the floor

That happened to me at a stop sign. Had to rebuild my transmission. What happened with yours? Did you find problem?
