When changing a old and bad transmission, besides the transmission, is there anything else you have to change?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1990 Toyota Supra, the transmission has over 200,000 miles on it, it sticks when shift or doesn't shift at all sometimes. I already have another transmission to replace the old one. Is there anything else i need to or have to replace when changing the transmission?

is it standard or automatic? changing a standard, replace all the clutch components, and check or just replace the u joints in the driveshaft- check the bushings in the linkage while you are at it and replace them- on an automatic, check the linkage and driveshaft also-

Make sure the cooler is not plugged and it flows freely, trans mounts should be replaced, u-joints. You might also want to replace the front pump seals and output shaft seal on your replacement tranny. It would also be a good idea to have the torque converter on your replacement trans flushed.
