Problem with opening and closing the power door

I had problems opening the power door with the interior switches and handle. It would only crack open about 2" and then stop. A gentle push would open it fully.  When trying to close the door, it would initially move forward and then stop. Again, a gentle push would make it close properly.  My dealer has estimated the lower latch assembly and handle(with actuator switch) need to be replaced for around $1000.  Is the failure of these two parts at the same time normal?  Note: The sliding door motor and cable and hinge assembly was replaced in 2006.

Try lubing the latches with s good quality lubricant like white lithium grease. The kind that comes in a spray can. HTH. -Jim
