05 Impala temp gauge fluctuating and line collapsed
I have an 05 Impala and I changed out the Thermostat and cleaned out the
throttle body as well as replace the air filter. Now all of a sudden the temp
gauge is fluctuating and when I opened the hood tonite, the hose from the
thermostat to the radiator was collapsed as if there is a flow issue. Any
ideas on what the problem might be? I bought a new coolant temp sensor
today but haven't installed it yet. I appreciate any assistance offered.
You still have air in the system. Does your vehicle have a over flow tank that you can add anti freeze to ?
Yes. Do I fill it up? Someone told me the radiator cap might also be bad, but no indication of that prior to installing the new stuff.
No do not fill it up remove over flow tank cap and leave off fill tank to full level start vehicle and let reach operating temp coolent will back up in over flow tank which is normal once thermostat starts to open coolent in tank will drop when this happens add more anti freeze to over flow tank to full mark then put cap back on then you should be good to go.
