At what miles should a timing belt be replaced on a 46000 mile RAV4?
About 80,000± miles ............. http://www.rav4world.com/forums/83-4-1-general/77368-timing-belt.html
David, just to clarify, since the OP asked under the 2005 model year, I will say that the Rav4 engines went from a timing belt to a chain in the 2001 model year.
Then I stand corrected, thanks Tom. The V8 engines in the Tundra, Sequoia, and 4Runner do have a belt. My bad.
I don't know what those guys were talking about in that forum....I didn't doubt you but sure enough the 2005 has a 2.4L and those V8's are the only engines Toyota make anymore with a belt
Yes, I pulled from the forums as well, so I can be wrong as well based on that info. I don't personally know. OP should check the owners manual as it will list it under maintanence.
http://www.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/login ...you can create an account with your VIN and they know all see all....complete service records and manuals can be downloaded there
http://toyota.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7690/~/does-my-vehicle-have-a-timing-belt-or-timing-chain%3F THAT says even the V8's have a chain from 2010 to present
