On a Toyota Rav4 2003 is the drive belt the same as the timing belt?
The mileage is 60,000. I had the drive belt replaced last year when it broke. Is
there a timing belt as well and at what milage should it be changed?
No, drive belts are totally different from timing belts. RAV4 1996- 2000 4 Cylinder has a Belt, 2001-2012 4 Cylinder has a Chain, 2006-2012 V6 also a Chain - S o according to the chart your is a 03 and so it has a Chain. Usually Chains last the life of the engine but it is the guides that wear out causing Timing Chain slap or rattle. Thanks for that info. I just had it MOT'd and it passed ok but the guy advised me to have the timing belt replaced because it's done 60,000 miles. It drives like a new car and as I said I had to have the drive belt replaced when it broke last year. So basically this guy doesn't know what he's talking about?
