starts run for 1or2 seconds and dies

car was sitting for weeks without battery put a battery starts the car and cant keep it
going did that several times still starts run for 1 sencond and stop
i did short the fuel pump relay i could hear it but still stop  after a second fire and gas
on for 1 second so that should not be the problem p[lease help me
