Battery is good, but when it is cold, engine is hard to start. Some grinding is necessary, but runs fine after starting. What to look at to fix it?

I would take a gander at the action of the timing chain....wear out at 80,000 change that..and will get new sprockets, new oil pump and new presser foot/spring to keep it on target....would be my assertion here...knowing this cause have had more than one GO on me...there is life after death...but better to just change it if above 80k
