Buying a Toyota Paseo with 200,000 miles

Asked by Gage05 Jan 02, 2011 at 08:16 PM about the 1994 Toyota Paseo 2 Dr STD Coupe

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask a question about a 1994 Toyota Paseo listed on Craigslist that is for sale
near me. From the pictures it looks really nice and has some nice alloy wheels.  I called
and spoke with the owner and she said the car has 200,000 miles on the odometer.  She's
asking $1800.00 for the car.  I've never owned a Toyota before only Hondas.  I had a 1985
Honda CRX HF that I bought in 1994 with 104,000 miles that I dove to 180,000 miles
before it was totaled when I was rear ended in an accident.  It ran great up until the
accident.  I know that Toyotas like Hondas are known for thei@@r reliabilty.  I was looking
for a Paseo because every CRX I've seen for sale is unreasonably priced.  The Toyota
Paseos I've seen for sale have good prices, and I like the sporty styling.  I just want to
know what others think about this.

Thanks.

They are asking too much for it. I bought my 1998 paseo with 98'000 kms on it for only 2500 so they are charging WAY too much. My paseo has been nothing but reliable. So far been an amazing car.

If it has 200,000 miles, don't pay over 1500. personally, I'd ask for under $1000. I have managed to buy 2 paseos(92,93) for under 1000, but I had to do repairs. If you are going to pay that much, Then the car has to be in good condition and they must have tuned it up and done everything. If everything is taken care of, it can go for years without breaking down.

ok we own 3 paseos. 1 has 80,000. one has340,000, 1 has 246,000. if they are maintained well good cars. timing belts every 90,000 miles . good gas miles. 29-36. but wouldnt pay 1800. 1500. if it has been taken care of. watch for oil leaks. 2 are standards(lots of fun) 1 is auto.

I have a 96 paseo with like 190k on it. Bought it new. It has always been a great car. I bought it as a kid, so, it hasn't always had great maintenance. Even if it was cosmetically perfect, I don't think I could get more than like $1100 out of it. Guess I'll keep her.
