I have mash the clutch all the way to the floor sometimes to get it to start .

Sometimes it will start and other times I have to mash the clutch all the way to the floor what could this be

Sounds like the clutch safety switch, attached to the top of the clutch pedal assembly, is bad or out of adjustment. HTH. -Jim
