Why won't a 5/8 plug socket seat down on the plugs in my 92 paseo?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought new plugs, probably also need new wires, but I couldn't get the socket down all the way on the old plug! Why?!

if you are using the correct size spark plug socket, what may be happening is that the spark plug wire terminal will come off the wire and stay on the spark plug. the terminal sitting on top of the spak plug will not let the socket seat all the way down
