it depends on the overall condition of the LC, i have seen this model LC do and accomplish UNBELIEVABLE things. i own a slightly newer one (97, last year this model LC was made) and it has NEVER EVER let me down.. let us know what you decide and the outcome....my money is on "DO IT!"

nope plus you did not say what kind of car you were hauling back, extra weight.

are we talking about 4.0 /4.2 liter turbo diesel engine 80 series landcruiser? and it can´t tow a 6 meter trailer with a car? why the hell not ?

i had up until sept 14th(drunk driver crashed in to me and totalled my vehicle) but I had a 1997 4Runner Limited V6 and I towed a 20ft trailer behind many times! I went to kentucky to pick up an 82 CJ7 and it did just fine, put her in 4 wheel drive, to get the stopping power. I also towed 4 times on a 20ft trailer a mitsubishi starion and chrysler conquest with no problems!!!!! So If you get your landcruiser serviced with new oil and tranny fluid, and the 50/50 for the radiatior your LandCruiser should do just fine. I drove at speed between 55 and 60 mph while towing ..... I say go for it .... otherwise Landcruisers truly suck .... just my view point:)

How heavy is the trailer? Add the vehicle weight you want to haul... Subtract the Toal weight from the GrossVehicleWeight...that is the OEM's prudent/safe delta. Factor in trailer towing experience...??? Does/make sure your trailer has dual axles/brakes?! Suggest a handy controller... Brake Mx/Fluids checks on LC complete... Can you extend your mirrors for towing? Prepare To Yank Safely Mate.
