It will either have a tag on it or there will be amperage stamped into the alternator body along with a Toyota engineering number.

Cant tell with alt in car..

Nope, you will have to take it off.

gotten be another way. old one gone replaced with 100amp, alt output "out of range" was installed last week. I need another to bring with me to have it replaced.

If it was repalced by an aftermarket unit they usually buff off the rating during the rebuild process, so taking it off won't do you any good. Try calling the dealer and with the VIN you might get an answer on what it is suppose to have on it.

Thank you, Sir. I'll do that Monday.

That's all I can think of for you to do. I just had to repalce the alternator on my rig and the parts guy was lost on what one it was suppose to have as there were two listings, fortunately buy comparing the the two on the bench it was determined to be of course the more expensive one as the electrical connections were slightly different and the clocking was a 180 degrees different.

Sounds like you have my luck.. I'm certain my alternator win be the most costly of them all, lol. It'll end up being something special that I'll have to get at the dealer. Thanks again.

An 04 should available aftermarket or even E-Bay or Amazon if you don't mind waiting but you do need to know what size you have before hand as thier compatablity charts are not always right.

Go to Densofindmypart.com and it will give you the exact OEM part number. I use this all the time on my 4 Toyotas.

210-0543 is standard 100 amp. And 210-0568 is the optional 130 amp alternator for your 04 highlander. See if you can read either of these numbers off your alternator.
