Help please!!! Toyota corolla 99 le (163xxx) too many problems?

Asked by Oct 26, 2014 at 10:15 PM about the 1999 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi! My 1999 Toyota corolla le
(163xxx) has been acting up quite a
bit lately. I replaced my headlight
bulb and turn signal bulb (both
drivers side) but within about max 2
weeks, it was out again. The plastic
piece connecting the wires to the
bulb melted so I'm guessing too
much voltage to that wire? How do I
fix it? This is the smallest of all the
problems i have! Thanks in advance!

That pigtail should be available at your local parts store, make sure you solder and shrink wrap the connections. After that start checking the grounds for the lighting system, grounds from engine to body, battery to engine etc. For some reason grounds seem to be a subject of concern on these cars when they start getting older. Next check the voltage output of your alternator, it should not go over 14.2 volts, if it is higher than the regulator maybe getting ready to fail.
