I just took it for another drive to see if I could notice anything else to help diagnose the issue. It seems I may have a much bigger problem. The car is cutting out and not wanting to catch up at all.Its like it is lagging,if that makes sense. Also the exhaughst is sputtering and rattling, along with the engine. Is it even fixable, or should I just invest in finding a used engine at a junkyard?

If it's overheating the first thing to do is make sure the radiator is full with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water. I'd definitely tune it up (spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor). Change the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve and inspect the PCV hoses. Inspect the air filter and replace the fuel filter. Years ago there was a book called "Auto Repair for Dummies". Not calling you a dummy but I read this book cover to cover about 35 years ago and I learned a lot from it! It explains everything, in great detail, that you'll need to know to perform the needed maintenance on any car or light duty truck. Great book! HTH. -Jim

Tuned it up and that took care of the issue.Got some help from a really nice auto parts guy at O'Reileys.I basicly got to tune it up myself. It was fun.Pretty sure it was a faulty spark plug wire.
