common oil leaks in 1992 corolla
I recently purchased a 1992 corolla and replaced the valve cover gasket but still have a significant oil leak. The oil seems to come from the vicinity of the timing belt, and puddles under the car below the transmission pan. Does anyone know where the common oil leaks are in this car, and can anyone help me pin down the site of the leak? Thanks
It could be where the crankshaft goes through the timing cover to the harmonic balancer or the front main seal on the oil pan and engine block.
if on the crankshaft - is that easily replaced while changing the timing belt?
Probably not, in most engines changing that seal involves removing the oil pan and crankshaft.
and replace oil pan gasket while that's being done - thanks for your help
