How to adjust the throttle position sensor

Asked by Jul 16, 2015 at 06:27 AM about the 1991 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took off the throttle position sensor
thinking it was the mass airflow
sensor (don't judge!). When I realized
what it was I just put it back on. I don't
know how to get it back to correct
position. My car idles fine but dies
when.put in drive

That video is for the 4A GE 1.6L. @ 2:56 and other places in that video clearly shows the serpentine belt in front of the car. A longitudal engine= rear wheel drive. that is not the engine in your car. For sure, your car is Front Wheel Drive, and has either the 1.6L 4A FE or 1.8L 7A FE ...The last Corolla with rear wheel drive was 1987. This is the 4A GE -- 1.6L -- not what you have-- A rear wheel drive longitudinal engine (will go full screen)

Let someone help you with this, loosen the 2 bolts on the throttle position sensor, let them keep the throttle position sensor in place, start the car and turn the throttle position sensor to the left or right till you hear the rev picking up, keep it steady and put in drive, do this till it don't die on u again. tighten the bolts back up
