Winning Noise or Clicking

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last night driving for Lyft my car started to make a clicking noise and then a
winning noise but only when it was in idle after driving or when i am on a hill. I
have not gotten any codes and my oil is fine. I think it might be my alternator or
catlitic converter but i am unsure.

Keep en eye (or ear) on it and see if the noise progresses. Pop the hood and get your head in there, it may help pinpoint the source. Check the belt for proper tension, wouldn't hurt to loosen the tensioner and slip the belt off and spin the pulleys by hand and see if any feel sloppy. If the whining is audible when driving and you feel any delay in shifting it may be torque converter or transmission related. Could also take the car through some swerves in a parking lot and see if clicking or popping comes from CV joints.
