I found a general description that explains what the wires do. There might be a larger gauge wire that goes to the alternator out put. -- -- --

Black w w stripe, field,white w blue or black stripe +7.00 volt,the blue w white stripe goes to idiot light

OK, '96 5S-FE (2.2L) engine... Pins to regulator (small wires going into side of alternator through a 3-pin connector): Pin 1 (L) is yellow (nearest the firewall) Pin 2 (IG) is red w/ blue stripe Pin 3 (S) is white (nearest front of the car)
