Timing belt, 2004 Camry Solara 3.3

Asked by darleneg51 May 19, 2015 at 05:27 PM about the 2004 Toyota Camry Solara SLE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, seals and coolant replaced in my Solara.  It doesn't even run like it did before.  Some noise from engine area while driving and very sluggish accelleration.  Is this a normal (break in period) thing, or do I have a problem?

NO it's not "Normal" to be sluggish or anything you describe after all that work. It should purr like a kitten, and power up like nobody's business. TAKE IT BACK and demand satisfaction, it needs no 'beak in' for that work.

I just had the same thing done to my Toyota solara 2001. Now my car makes a high pitched whistle noise when I drive, almost like a jet taking off. Also my car kinda of rumbles like idles higher then normally. I won't take it back to where I had the work down. Only because this is the second time my car has gone wrong when I had work done. This situation is regarding have the same work I just had done. New timing belt, water pump, ect. I was told the reason my belt and water pump went out within 2 yrs of just having it fixed by this same machanic was the tensioner went bad to cause newer belt and water pump to go out. I asked why the tensioner a weren't replaced the first time. Wasn't given an answer and this just cost me more money.
