2004 Camry Intermittently blowing warm air

Asked by Jun 18, 2016 at 10:08 AM about the 2004 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 Camry AC has started blowing warm air.
It's off and on sometimes it will blow cool than back
to hot. The AC light is not flashing. What could it be.
I read a a lot of threads that it could be the
compressor.

Low freon will cause this issue.

If freon is full, the ac compressor just may be the issue.

The Diagnosis is usually done with a Test Gauge Set. Absent of this special equipment....you might consider trying this. With the engine running and the AC on full blast.....find the FAT(low side) pipe coming out of the AC compressor. Follow it away from rotating parts and place your hand/fingers on that pipe. That fat low side pipe should be cold. Now trace the other High Side pipe coming off the compressor to a spot where there are no rotating parts. Touch/feel...that pipe should be warm/hot. This is the "Old School" method of beginning the diagnosis. Get back to us with the result.
