05 cavalier really loud sluggish acceleration

My 05 cavalier all of a sudden one morning started
running really loud. And has sluggish acceleration.  
It seems like it happened all of a sudden

Can also be from a plugged catalytic converter, can be associated with a whiff of "rotten eggs"
