Radiator Fans on and in high when I turn on the car.

Asked by Barbara Apr 06, 2021 at 08:49 PM about the 2000 Toyota Camry CE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bumped car on a curb. Replaced all motor mounts. Fans are new and so is
thermostat. Fans are now running constantly on high when car is turned on.
The fans are causing the motor to vibrate and shake especially when A/C
compressor come on. Shakes the mirrors on the side of the car. Replaced the
coolant temperature sensor, cleaned out throttle body but have not changed the
radiator switch on bottom of radiator. All fuses in box in engine are good. Fans
go off when I take out the plug-ins to control fans. My mechanic told me I
needed an electrical person. Should I just change out the remaining switch,
sensor or whatever on the bottom of the radiator. The car does not run hot.
Runs well just vibration when I stop.

That musta been a big bump on the curb. Yes, at the very least remove the fan switch and clean the contacts and see if you can get some electrical cleaner inside it and free it up, then reinstall it. Replace if it still doesn't work. Sorry to doubt you, but your car sees bumps all the time. A lateral bump has to be pretty f'n big in order to make things break, especially small electricals. Was the engine shaking with a load on it prior to the bump?
