1997 Camry starting problems

Asked by Feb 22, 2016 at 10:55 AM about the 1997 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Camry with starting issues. I've
checked the fuse and it's okay then the relay and
it's good too. The ignition switch was replaced two
years ago due to key problems. Now, I took the
starter out and tested it, and it seems to be
working just fine. When it's mounted makes a
weak cranking noise or sometimes just nothing.
What could it be?

Almost sounds like a dead battery, and make sure the alternator is working. Have the battery tested.

What happens when you attempt a PROPER jump start. Any difference in starter motor performance?
