Car won't drive or reverse it just shakes and revs when I push the gas

Asked by Jun 02, 2017 at 08:05 AM about the 1997 Toyota Camry CE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car begain to shake a little and if I pushed to
hard on the gas it would putter this started about
three days Pryor ,two week's ago i had an oil
change along with the other fluids it was also ran
on the machine to make sure there were no issues.
Right after the oil change I noticed a hole in a large
black tube behind the engine I taped it and was
going to have it fixed .yesterday I was on my was
to the mechanic driving on express way at 45 mph
and the car started to rev like crazy and the
speedometer was going from 20 to 80 .i slowed
down got on the shoulder turned the car off and
popped the hood checked the oil etcetera. Well
when i turn the car back on it was making a terrible
putter sound and started to shake when I put it in
drive and pushed on the gas the car would not
move in drive or reverse but when I put it in neutral
the car seemed fine.I had to leave it on the side of
the eway .now I have to find a way to get it out and
tow it to a mechanic. Do you think my vehicle is
salvageable or do you think the problem is going to
cost more then what the car is worth  I honestly
don't know if my car is CE LE LE V6 I don't have my
vin in front of me .thank you for reading. Marisol
