Bad Gas ?

Asked by Sep 12, 2015 at 04:29 PM about the 1997 Toyota Camry CE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is it possible that bad gas fill up could have caused the poor performance and check engine light to come on?
The car was running perfectly fine all day on Sunday, filled up gas tank Sunday night, ran fine all day Monday, by Tuesday morning the car started messing up.

Anything is possible, you can try dumping in a can of Octane booster, but use a good one, and drive it down to a 1/4 tank then refill with some Hi Octane fuel with Techron in it, so Texaco or Chevron stations, and if it is bad fuel that should take care of it. Unless you want to siphon out the fuel as much as possible and put in some Hi Octane and try that.
