97 camry sometimes doesn't want to change gears tranny starts acting up.
Ok I have a 97 Toyota camry 4 cylindet. We
just redid the tranny because it had blown.
We got it back was driving fine but then
sometimes the car won't shift out of 1st
gear. We have have took it back about 5
times they have changed a bunch of things
but it still does it. Now there telling us it's
something electrical because it starts doing
it when the check engine light comes on.
Which is true every time we take it back it
drives fine then boom the light turns on a
couple days later and it starts acting up
again. Please if anyone got any
suggestions it will be great.
Have they replaced any of the shifting solenoids? Sounds like one of them is failing. That is most likely what is making your CEL come on. If they did the work on the tranny, then I would take it back and tell them to replace the shift solenoids. There should be an error code stored in your system. Sounds like they are just playing games and don't want to drop your tranny again.
