He is at at home way to get you by. Measure from inside rim to inside rim with a tape measure on back side from side to side. Then do this on front side from rim to rim. Make your measurement the same. This is total toe. Drive car and note how out of center the steering wheel is. If it is out to left. Then on left side turn tie rod in 1/2 turn and right side out 1/2 turn. Do this til you get as Close as you can. But it is best to get and alignment by a shop with a machine so you don't distroy your tires. Spend a little money here will save you money later when your ties last out their mileage

Another Old School Method. Remove wheel covers. Inflate tires to proper spec. Surround the 4 wheels on center and horizontally with string. Tape it taught. Center the Steering Wheel. Now check the distances between tire sidewall and string. Using the string as your guide....you can determine which wheel is toeing in or out. Sort of like a Mason lays out the footings for a foundation. Good enough to get you to an Alignment Shop.
