94 camry still stalls

Asked by BriBri522 Jan 04, 2017 at 11:14 AM about the 1994 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok so I know that Toyota Camry stalling problems
are always big topics on forums and I know there's
a lot of Info out there. But bare with me please. I
have a 94 Camry it has stalled since I've had it. It
never stalls while driving, just when coming to a
stop, slowing down like getting off highways or
stop lights etc. The car will sputter ,the rpms will
drop and sputter, the oil light flashes(that's new).
Now I can drive out of the stall if I don't have to
come to a complete stop. But if I have to stop the
car will stall and die out. It usually starts right back
up. Now,this has been a problem for the 7 years
I've had the car. I have changed my ECT sensor and
the other sensor next to it(forget name). I have
cleaned the throttle body and the IAC. I attempted
to clean the EGR valve,I couldn't fully remove it. I
haven't checked the oxygen sensor. I am going to
clean the body and the IAC again. I want to get the
EGR off and fully clean it....on top of this, there is an
oil leak, not major and this came after the car has
been stalling forever . I'm running out of solutions
and patience with this car. It runs solid aside from
the stalling, rough start at times and rough idle.
They all must be related. Any any any help or
suggestions is greatly appreciated. I'm so
frustrated. Thank you very much.

You mean that you cannot find a mechanic to figure this out? Was that other item a Throttle Positioning Sensor? This may sound funny but try replacing the Temperature Sending Unit. This sensor is like the front line of information that the computer makes its adjustments from. It could be bad and you wouldn't even know it.

Have you tried removing the vacuum line from the EGR and see if it still stalls out?

I completely changed my EGR and cleaned my Throttle body . I paid a garage and they ignored this problem. If you want to fix something you have to do it yourself..I have been racking my brain for months. My car has 169, 500 miles and the carbon buid up was extreme . I found the parts. An EGR and cannister on Amazon for pennies compared to what I was quoted.. Good luck

I have a 99 Toyota Camry LE 4cyl. i have a CAN OBD 2 MEMOSCAN which told me the EGR was bad so I replaced the EGR,EGR VACUM SENSOR and the GAS FILTER on the intake but car still spit and sputter while driving, then i hooked scanner up and cleared codes now she running brand new!!!
