Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My girlfriend contacted me and said
when she went to get the tires
checked out, one of the employees
working there said that it requires a
special tool to remove them. I am at
work and am unable to see for
myself because I work off shore.
What I am asking is does the car
require any special tool or key for
getting the tire off?

Only if somebody put a lock-nut on the wheel Toyota does not use factory lock nuts and no special tools are needed, it's just like any car, no tricks

On top of that a tire shop can use a tool any decent shop has and break the lock nut. It deters a would-be thief but are not hard to defeat

Please post back with the official story. I love to hear how shops try and pull a fast one especially when a girl walks in the door! I've seen some good ones...........
