Fuel is getting into your exhaust, maybe a leaky fuel injector?

How do I find out tom

Fuel pressure test and other diagnostic equipment, Most local garages will be able to help you.

Tom's answer is the best but it could also be caused by a spark plug not firing. Since spark plugs are typically cheaper, have your shop check them before digging into the injectors. Bottom line is that unburned fuel is getting through your engine and exiting via the exhaust.

Thanks guys
