2001 VSC and check engine light came on my dashboard and I have been servicing my car at Toyota for 15 years, I was told that I should purchase a new car instead of trying to fix it, they gave me a waiver until August of 2015.Should I try to have someone else look at the vehicle before I purchase a new one? This vehicle never once shut down, never had any body work and it runs great,Any suggestions?
Did they tell you what the code of check engine light? I don't trust dealership, they are here to sells cars.
I would also check tire pressure and make sure they are balance. Might have to recalibrate VSC.
You need the code like frywonton said, my guess it's a small fix, not worth getting a new car. Sheesh. Find a local mechanic who will repair your car and keep driving and maintaining it for years to come.
Thank you very much for the update, I will call Toyota and ask for the code on Monday, I may even take my car to another shop because My car truly runs great, "despite being a 2001"! "Sheesh" is about right!!
