I have a '97 4-Runner 5 spd manual trans with 4 cyl engine. A lot of miles but well maintained/babied! Now, it doesn't want to start on a regular basis, occasionally it will start. I took it to the mechanic, and it started then. He said possibly a switch associated with the clutch or starter. It makes a couple of clicks, then nothing. Have a new battery.
..wow, same answer again...the black cable as it comes off the battery attaches to the chassis/frame...this point must be wirebrushed clean and the lug and bolt...and the 1/0 cable going to the block as well~ battery should be less than five years old or should be replaced~
My battery is only about 6 mos. old, Thanks for your answer, I'm going out to do it now!
I did all that, still ended up needing a starter! As long as it solved the problem! Thanks!
