Pretty bad misfire

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So this is gonna be a tough one. It had a
small miss whenever I would start it would
clear up after 30 seconds. Now it’s a million
times worse. When I start it, it is super bad. I
can barely drive it. The miss doesn’t go away
after driving for a while. At idle, it sounds like
a cylinder isn’t even firing. Once I have the
engine rev’d up, it clears up for a second
then starts again. Yesterday I did a
compression test and it was right around
95psi all the way around. At first I thought
maybe head gasket between 2 cylinders.
Now I’m stuck. Bad injector? Thanks

Not sure if this is the same issue. I have the same model and it started missing and idling rough. It ended up that the ignition leads were arcing to the exhaust manifold. Before finding that out it had a tune, idle adjustment and injector flush and service. Apparently if the installation of the leads isn't right this can happen when they burn through. Hope it helps. For the record, Southside Toyota, in Brisbane worked it all out and were great. Hope it helps.

how much did it cost you? I think I might have the same thing happening on my 2002 4runner, I went trough a car wash and as I was leaving the car started to run a little rough at idle and sounded like it was misfiring. after I got a couple miles down the road it seemed to clear up but I frequently go through a car wash and would like to not have this issue if the moisture is causing something to go wrong.
